HQ Business Cards: Everything You Need to Know

Quick answer: HQ Business Cards are Print Studio Scotland's core business card range — printed in-house at our Paisley studio on 400gsm silk card, in full vibrant colour on both sides, with a choice of Matt, Gloss or Soft Touch laminate. Prices start at £29 for 100 cards, with a standard 2–3 working day turnaround (1–2 days on our Express service). It's the range most sole traders, tradespeople and businesses across Scotland order first.

What Are HQ Business Cards?

HQ is our everyday, dependable business card — full colour on both sides, printed on a solid 400gsm silk stock, and finished with a laminate of your choice. It's designed to give you a professional, well-made card without paying for finishes you don't need. Every HQ order is printed, laminated and trimmed at our own studio in Paisley, checked by our pre-press team before it goes to press and quality-checked again before it's dispatched.

Choosing a Laminate

Matt Laminate gives a smooth, low-sheen finish that photographs well and reads as clean and professional — our most popular option. Gloss Laminate makes colours punchier and more vibrant, good for bold branding and photography-led designs. Soft Touch Laminate adds a velvety, tactile coating that feels noticeably more premium in the hand — a small price step up for a big difference in feel.

Printed In-House, Start to Finish

Every HQ card is produced on-site at our studio in Paisley — nothing is sent to a third party. That matters for two reasons: we control the turnaround we quote you, and if anything about your artwork needs a second look, you're talking directly to the team producing your job. It's worth knowing that not every finish in our business card range works this way — our 3D Spot UV and 3D Foil cards use specialist Scodix equipment that we outsource to a trusted finishing partner, simply because that machinery is a significant, specialist investment. HQ and our Luxe range stay fully in-house.

Who Orders HQ Business Cards?

HQ is a favourite with sole traders, professional services firms, sales teams, hospitality staff and tradespeople — anyone who hands out cards regularly and wants reliable quality at a fair price. It's also a staple order for marketing agencies managing print on behalf of clients, thanks to consistent results at volume.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between HQ and Luxe Business Cards?

Both are printed full colour on both sides in-house at Paisley. HQ uses 400gsm silk card with a choice of Matt, Gloss or Soft Touch laminate. Luxe steps up to a heavier 450gsm stock with Soft Touch laminate as standard, for a noticeably more premium feel. See our Luxe Business Cards guide for the full comparison.

Which laminate should I choose?

Matt suits most professional and corporate cards. Gloss suits bold, colour-heavy designs. Soft Touch is worth the small upgrade if you want your card to feel as premium as it looks.

Do you offer rounded corners on HQ cards?

Yes — rounded corners are available on the HQ range. Email quotes@printstudioscotland.com and we'll advise on options and pricing.

What if I want a raised, tactile finish like Spot UV or Foil?

Our 3D Spot UV and 3D Foil ranges add a raised Scodix finish on top of the same quality print. Because that finishing stage uses specialist equipment we don't run in-house, those cards take a little longer (5 working days) and start from a higher price point — but the print and pre-press are still handled by us throughout.

How fast can I get HQ Business Cards?

Standard turnaround is 2–3 working days. Choose Express at checkout for 1–2 working days. Contact us if you have a specific deadline and we'll advise what's possible.
