Ours was built to make things.

Print/Studio Scotland is based in the Sir James Clark Building in Paisley, built in the early 1920s as part of the world-famous Anchor Mills.

Long before computers, presses and digital artwork, this was the Gassing Mill. Cotton thread was run through a gas flame to burn away loose fibres, leaving it smooth, strong and ready for the next stage of manufacture before being sent around the world.

For generations, skilled people worked within these walls, turning raw material into thread known for its precision and consistency.

Then & Now

More than a century later, the product has changed but the purpose hasn’t. Since 2010, we’ve helped businesses turn ideas into beautifully produced print — from everyday marketing materials to large-format displays.

Everything we produce is guided by the same principles that have defined this building for over 100 years:

Material choice matters, too. Weight, finish, texture, coating — these decisions shape how a piece feels in the hand, how colour reproduces and, ultimately, how the work is received. Over the years we’ve built a carefully considered range of stocks we trust and use every day.

Modern technology powers everything we do, but our approach is rooted in the tradition of making that has always existed here. Thread in the 1920s, print today — this has always been a place where things are made.
