Print Studio Scotland is a production print studio. Our artwork team's job is simple: to make sure every file that reaches our presses prints exactly as it should. That means checking it, fixing it where needed, and setting it up correctly for the product, paper and finish you've chosen.
Free Pre-press Check on Every File
Every file we receive is checked before it goes anywhere near a press, free of charge. We look at size, bleed, safe area, image resolution, colour, fonts, overprint and page order, and we tell you about anything that needs attention before you approve your proof. Artwork Fixes and Print Set-up
If your file needs more than a routine fix, our artwork team can sort it for you, including:
- Adding bleed and moving text and logos away from the trim
- Resizing or adapting existing artwork for a new size or product, such as turning a poster into a roller banner
- Setting up cut lines for shaped boards and stickers
- Setting up NCR forms, folded leaflet panels and brochure spreads correctly for print
- Correcting colour, black builds and low-resolution images where possible
- Preparing Canva artwork for print
AI artwork check and prep
AI-generated files are now one of the most common types of artwork we receive, and most need some work before they'll print well. Our AI artwork check and prep covers correcting the size and proportions, adding bleed and trim marks, bringing content inside the safe area, converting colour for print and rebuilding text where needed. It's charged in our standard 15-minute blocks, and many files are ready in just one. See our guide to making AI artwork print-ready for a real before-and-after example.
We can also build a simple print layout from your existing logo and brand, for example a roller banner, poster or super size cheque.
Artwork work is charged at £35 per hour in 15-minute blocks, so a typical quick fix is £8.75 + VAT. We'll always tell you before any chargeable work starts.
What We Don't Offer
We don't create new brands, logos or bespoke creative campaigns. For new branding or creative design, we recommend working with a design agency or freelance designer whose main focus is creative development. Once your artwork is ready, we'll take care of the production print, and we're happy to give your designer our templates, print specifications and guidance at the outset so the files arrive ready to print.
For Designers and Agencies
We work with designers and agencies every day. Our Print Learning Centre has artwork specifications and templates for every product we print, and our colour settings and PDF/X-4 export settings are set out in our pre-flight guide. Supply print-ready files and we'll check them, proof them and print them, with a real person on the end of the phone if anything needs a second look.
