Display Board Size Guide by Use Case
A4 / A3 — desks, counters and small signage
Ideal for menu boards, price lists, small point-of-sale signage and workplace notices. Available across our Foamex and Correx ranges.
A2 / A1 — shop windows and point of sale
A popular bracket for retail point-of-sale displays, estate agent boards and mid-size exhibition graphics — large enough for real presence without needing a large wall or floor footprint.
A0 — exhibitions and large wall-mounted displays
Our largest standard size, well suited to exhibition stand graphics, large wall-mounted signage with chrome fixings, and statement displays in receptions or showrooms.
Custom shapes — photo props and standout signage
Our Shaped Display Boards can be cut to any outline within your chosen size — logos, silhouettes, arrows, numbers and more — for photo-call props, PR backdrops and directional signage with personality.
3mm vs 5mm Foamex: Which Thickness?
Both are rigid and durable. 3mm is lighter and more economical — ideal for most indoor displays and wall-mounted boards. 5mm is thicker and more rigid, giving extra sturdiness for larger boards, freestanding use, or where the board will be handled frequently. Note that our black board option is only available in 5mm.
Correx and DiPlast: Which Thickness?
Standard 4mm Correx is lightweight and economical, perfect for most outdoor signage and short-to-medium-term use. 5.5mm DiPlast is thicker and more rigid, giving extra durability and a more substantial feel for signs that need to last longer or stand up to more handling — both are available across the same A4–A0 size range.

How Much Space Do You Actually Have?
Before choosing a size, measure your wall, window or stand space and allow a little breathing room around the edges. As a rough guide:
- Counter, till or small noticeboard: A4 or A3.
- Shop window or point-of-sale stand: A2 or A1.
- Exhibition wall or large reception display: A0, or consider a custom size.
- Fundraising presentation: 1000 x 500mm for a standard photo call, or 1200 x 700mm for extra presence on stage or in a larger venue.
Viewing Distance: How Big Should Your Text Be?
Size affects how much content you can fit, but viewing distance determines how big that content needs to be to actually be read. As a general design rule of thumb, headline text should be roughly 25–30mm tall for every metre of expected viewing distance — so a headline meant to be read from 3 metres away should be at least 75–90mm tall.
